Silver staining provides a method for the highly sensitive detection of proteins and nucleic acids after separation with polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Most staining methods, however, are time consuming and difficult to use. ''Wako Silver Stain Kit 2'' was developed to overcome these problems, providing a more sensitive and rapid detection than Coomassie Brilliant Blue R-250 (C.I. 42660). Therefore, the kit is useful for both fundamental experimental fields and in clinical testing.

1. Reagent preparation and staining procedure are easy.
2. After electrophoresis, staining is completed within an hour.
3. Silver staining is 50-100 times more sensitive than Coomassie Brilliant Blue (CBB) staining.
4. Washing after fixation is not necessary.
5. The kit does not contain toxic metals.
6. Silver staining can be done after CBB staining to perform a double stain.
