Tau is one of microtubule-associated proteins, mainly expressed in the central nervous system neurons, and it adjusts the stabilization of microtubules.
In the brains of Alzheimer's disease patients, it is reported that neurofibrillary tangles are caused by accumulation of phosphorylated Tau, and the extent of its appearance correlates with the severity of dementia.
Therefore, Tau is studied for investigating the cause of Alzheimer's disease and developing therapeutic drugs.
This product is a rat monoclonal antibody which recognizes mouse Tau. It recognizes all Tau regardless of phosphorylation modification or isoform.
