Tau is one type of microtubule-binding protein that is primarily expressed within the neurons of the central nervous system and is involved in the modulation of microtubule stability.
In Alzheimer's disease, the formation of neurofibrillary tangles with accumulated phosphorylated Tau proteins is known to occur.
Since correlations between the occurrence frequency of neurofibrillary tangles and severity of dementia were reported, neurofibrillary tangles have been studied for determination of the causes and development of therapeutic agents for Alzheimer's disease.
This product is a rat monoclonal antibody which recognizes Tau of human, mouse and rat.
It recognizes all Tau regardless of phosphorylation modification or isoform.
